The main characteristics of resistance welding are: the welding voltage is very low (1 ~ 12V), the welding current is very large (tens to thousands of amps), and the welding time to complete a joint is very short (0.01 ~ a few seconds), so the consumption rate is high. When heating, mechanical pressure is applied to the joint, and the joint is welded under the action of pressure, and there is no need to fill metal during welding.

The application of resistance welding is very common, especially in the automotive and aircraft manufacturing industry, such as the new passenger aircraft with up to millions of solder joints. Resistance welding has applications in spacecraft, semiconductor devices and integrated circuit components. Therefore, resistance welding is one of the important methods of welding. Resistance welding is divided into spot welding, seam welding and butt welding according to different process methods, and only spot welding is introduced here.

Welding transformer is a spot welding appliance, and its secondary needs only one loop. Cooling water through the transformer, electrode and other parts to avoid heat welding. The cooling water should be passed first, and then the power switch should be switched on. The quality of electrode directly affects the welding process, welding quality and consumption rate. Electrode materials are commonly made of copper, cadmium bronze, chromium bronze, etc. The shape of the electrode is varied, mainly according to the shape of the weldment. When installing electrodes, pay attention to the parallel surface of the upper and lower electrodes. The electrode plane should be kept clean, and often trimmed with emery cloth or file.

Spot welding machine process

The process of spot welding is:

1. Open cooling water;

2. After the surface of the weldment is cleared and assembled accurately, it is sent between the upper and lower electrodes, and pressure is applied to make it in good contact;

3, power to heat the contact surface of the two workpieces, local condensation, constituting a melting core;

4. Adhere to the pressure after power failure, so that the molten core is cooled and solidified under pressure to form a solder joint;

5. Remove the pressure and take the finished parts.

6, welding current, electrode pressure, power time and electrode working surface size and other spot welding process parameters have a serious impact on welding quality.
